Water Treatment Works External Bund Floor & Access Gantry

Background - Our clients were installing a new bund and tanks as part of renewal and refurbishment works at a Water Treatment Works.

Project - The client approached Step on Safety Ltd to provide a means of safe access flooring to the lower level of the bund tanks and mezzanine platform surrounding the upper half of the tanks that was a suitable material and structure to be within close proximity to Sodium Hypochlorite.

Solution - Specialising in composite materials that are suitable for use in areas where specific chemicals are in close proximity, Step on Safety ltd designed, pre-fabricated, delivered and installed an easy GRP Open Mesh Anti Slip Grating to the lower bund floor and an easy to assemble access gantry to the upper bund area that met the requirements of the Thames Water Specifications. Step on Safety's GRP Access Solutions was the ideal choice to combat the inherent issues associated with traditional materials by being light weight / high strength, non- conductive, non - corrosive, non-sparking fire resistant which was key in this particular environment. Step on Safety's GRP open mesh anti-slip grating was chosen for all flooring and stair treads with DDA compliant nosing to ensure the structures complies with Document M+K and the Equalities Act Guidelines.

Materials Used – The design / fabrication is constructed completely from GRP Composite Materials with exceptions to the fixings which were A4 316 Stainless Steel.
GRP Open Mesh Anti Slip Grating is used for the Bund floor, deck and treads all boasting DDA Compliant Nosing’s, Heavy Duty GRP Hand Railing was installed around the perimeter of the gantry/mezzanine platform. Structural GRP Profiles for the Sub Structure.
